Acorus gramineus Ogon is an elegant ornamental grass with narrow, gold-striped leaves. It brings a bright, airy character to interiors and beautifully complements both modern and natural styles. Ogon is a low-maintenance plant suitable even for less experienced growers.
Watering Keep the substrate evenly moist – water when the top layer (approx. 1–2 cm) is dry. It does not tolerate complete drying out or waterlogging. Caution: Use standing water at room temperature.
Light Prefers a bright location without direct midday sun. It can tolerate partial shade, but in insufficient light, it loses the intensity of its golden leaf coloration.
Avoid direct sun, which can burn the leaves.
Also suitable for rooms with less natural light.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 15–22 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Appreciates higher air humidity. During the heating season, we recommend a humidifier.
Fertilizing During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with liquid fertilizer for houseplants at half strength. In winter, skip fertilization completely.
Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, well-draining substrate – a mixture of peat and perlite is ideal. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot, always only to one size larger.
Warning Acorus gramineus can be mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
