Aechmea Blue Rain is a charming bromeliad with trailing, banded leaves and a magnificent blue inflorescence. Its exotic appearance brings a tropical atmosphere to any interior. Blue Rain is a long-lived plant that produces offshoots after flowering.
Watering Water directly into the rosette (the center of the leaf rosette), where water naturally collects. Change the water in the rosette every 2 weeks to prevent it from smelling. Caution: Use room temperature, standing water or rainwater.
Light Prefers bright, indirect light.
Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
It can tolerate partial shade, but the inflorescence will be less vibrant.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 18–26 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 12 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Appreciates higher air humidity. During the heating season, we recommend a humidifier.
Fertilization During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with liquid fertilizer for bromeliads or houseplants at half strength. Do not fertilize at all in winter.
Substrate and Repotting Use a light, well-draining substrate for bromeliads or orchids. The root system is small – it does not need a large pot. Repot only when necessary.
Warning Aechmea is non-toxic to pets and children – it is a safe choice for households with animals.
