Aeonium Ab Velours is a charming succulent with rosettes of dark red to purple leaves that resemble velvet. Originating from the Canary Islands, its dramatic coloring instantly makes it the focal point of any interior. It is ideal for bright rooms and windowsills.
Watering Water only when the substrate is completely dry – succulents do not tolerate overwatering. In winter, water minimally, once every 4–6 weeks. Caution: Excess water in the saucer can cause root rot.
Light Requires bright direct or indirect light.
The ideal location is on a south or west-facing windowsill.
In insufficient light, the dark coloration of the leaves loses its intensity.
Temperature and air
Ideal temperature: 15–25 °C (59–77 °F).
Cold: It can tolerate temperatures around 5 °C (41 °F) for short periods, but prolonged frost is not good for it.
Humidity: Prefers dry air – high humidity is not good for it.
Fertilizing During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once every 4–6 weeks with a fertilizer for cacti and succulents. Omit fertilization entirely in winter.
Substrate and repotting Use a well-draining substrate for cacti and succulents with added perlite or sand. Repot only when necessary; succulents prefer tighter pots.
Warning Aeonium is mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
