Albizia julibrissin Ombrella, also known as the Silk Tree or Mimosa, is an exotic tree with delicate, feathery leaves and beautiful pink flowers. Its delicate leaves fold up at dusk – as if the plant is falling asleep. Ombrella is a compact variety ideal for bright interiors and conservatories.
Watering Keep the substrate evenly moist during the growing season. Drastically reduce watering in winter. Caution: Does not tolerate waterlogged roots.
Light Requires bright direct or indirect light.
An ideal location is by a south or west-facing window.
In low light, it will not flower and will lose its leaves.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 15–25 °C.
Cold: It can tolerate temperatures around 5 °C for short periods, but prolonged frost is not good for it.
Humidity: Appreciates normal indoor conditions.
Fertilizing During the growth period (spring-summer), fertilize once a month with liquid fertilizer for houseplants. Do not fertilize at all in winter.
Substrate and Repotting Use a rich, well-draining substrate. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot.
Warning Albizia julibrissin can be mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
