Alocasia Pink Dragon is a captivating tropical plant with dark green, glossy leaves and prominent pink petioles that resemble dragon scales. Its unique combination of dark leaves and pink stems makes it one of the most striking houseplants.
Watering Keep the substrate evenly moist – water when the top layer (approx. 2–3 cm) is dry. It does not tolerate complete drying out or waterlogging. Caution: Use room temperature, standing water.
Light Prefers bright, indirect light.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
In low light, the pink coloration of the petioles loses intensity.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 18–28 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 15 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Requires high aerial humidity (above 60%). Mist regularly or place on a tray with moist pebbles. During the heating season, a humidifier is recommended.
Fertilizing During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Omit fertilization entirely in winter.
Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, humus-rich, and well-draining substrate – a peat mixture with perlite is ideal. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot.
Warning Alocasia is toxic to pets and children if ingested. Keep out of their reach.
