Alocasia Polly is a compact and very popular variety with dark green, glossy, arrow-shaped leaves adorned with prominent white veins. Its dramatic appearance and compact size make it an ideal choice for smaller spaces, shelves, and windowsills. It is a classic houseplant.
Watering Keep the substrate evenly moist – water when the top layer (approx. 2–3 cm) is dry. It does not tolerate complete drying out or overwatering. Note: Use room-temperature, standing water – chlorine and fluoride from tap water can cause brown leaf tips.
Light Prefers bright, indirect light.
Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Lack of light causes it to lose color intensity and slow growth.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 18–28 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 15 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Requires high air humidity (above 60%). Mist regularly or place on a tray with moist pebbles. During the heating season, we recommend a humidifier – dry air causes brown leaf tips.
Fertilizing During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Skip fertilizing completely in winter.
Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, humus-rich, and well-drained substrate – a peat mixture with perlite is ideal. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot, always only one size larger.
Warning Alocasia is toxic to pets and children if ingested. Keep out of their reach.
