Care for Begonia Tu Bonfire Orange
Begonia Tu Bonfire Orange is an impressive flowering hybrid with abundant blooms in vibrant orange. Its trailing stems full of flowers make it ideal for hanging baskets or cascading from shelves and windowsills. It blooms profusely from spring to autumn, bringing lively energy indoors.
💧 Watering Water regularly but moderately – only when the top layer of substrate (approx. 2 cm) is dry. Bonfire begonia does not tolerate overwatering or complete drying out. Caution: Water must not stand in the saucer under the pot. Water directly into the substrate – not on the leaves or flowers.
☀️ Light Prefers bright, indirect light – ideal placement is near an east or west-facing window.
Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch flowers and leaves.
Lack of light will significantly reduce flowering.
🌡️ Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 16–24 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Tolerates normal room humidity. Do not mist directly onto flowers or leaves – water droplets cause spots and flower rot.
🌿 Fertilizing During the flowering period (spring–autumn), fertilize every 2 weeks with a liquid fertilizer for flowering plants at half strength. Completely skip fertilizing in winter. Regular removal of spent flowers (deadheading) encourages further blooming.
🧽 Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, airy, and well-draining substrate – a mix of peat or coir with perlite (1:1). Repot in spring, only one size larger each time.
⚠️ Warning Begonia Tu Bonfire is toxic to pets and children. Keep it out of their reach.
