Watering

When to water: Water once the top 2–3 cm of substrate has dried out. The soil should remain slightly moist, but not constantly wet.

Avoid overwatering: Always pour excess water out of the saucer or cover pot so the roots do not sit in water.

Water: It does best with soft, room-temperature water that has been left to stand.

Light

Placement: Give it a bright spot with indirect light. It can tolerate partial shade, but grows more densely with plenty of light.

Direct sunlight: It can handle gentle morning or evening sun, but harsh midday rays may scorch the leaves.

Temperature and air

Ideal temperature: 18–25 °C. Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 15 °C.

Humidity: Higher humidity helps keep the leaf tips fresh. A humidifier or occasional misting with soft water will help.

Fertilising and growth

Fertilising: From spring to early autumn, feed every 2–3 weeks with fertiliser for green houseplants. Reduce fertilising in winter.

Growth: It grows in a dense clump and, with good care, produces new shoots from the base.

Substrate

Composition: Use an airy houseplant substrate mixed with perlite or sand.

Drainage: The pot must have drainage holes; you can add a layer of expanded clay pebbles to the bottom.
