Nepenthes Alata is a fascinating carnivorous plant with characteristic pitcher traps that attract and digest insects. It is a true unique among houseplants, bringing an exotic, tropical touch to any interior.
Watering Use only distilled or rainwater – hard tap water is harmful to the plant. Keep the substrate evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Regularly refill the pitchers with distilled water.
Light Requires plenty of light – ideally indirect sunlight or a bright spot near a window.
Ideal near a south or west-facing window.
Direct midday sun can scorch the leaves.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 20–30 °C (68–86 °F).
Humidity: Requires high air humidity (60–80%). A humidifier is recommended.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 15 °C (59 °F).
Fertilization Do not fertilize the substrate – Nepenthes obtains nutrients from insects. If there is a lack of insects, you can occasionally place a small insect or a drop of liquid fertilizer directly into the trap.
Substrate and Repotting Use a special substrate for carnivorous plants (peat + perlite). Never use regular garden soil or fertilized mixes.
