Nephrolepis exaltata Green Lady is a spectacular indoor fern with long, elegantly arching leaves in a rich green color. Its growth habit makes it ideal as a standalone plant on a pedestal or in a hanging basket. It is also one of the best natural air purifiers.
Watering Ferns require consistently moist soil – water when the top layer (about 1–2 cm) is dry. They do not tolerate complete drying out or waterlogging. Use room temperature, standing water – chlorine and fluoride from tap water can cause brown leaf tips.
Light Tolerates a wide range of light conditions – from medium indirect to bright indirect light.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
It is also ideal for places with less natural light.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 16–24 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Requires high air humidity (above 50%). Regularly mist the leaves or place on a tray with moist pebbles. During the heating season, we recommend a humidifier – dry air causes brown leaf tips.
Fertilizing During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with a liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Do not fertilize at all in winter. Ferns are sensitive to over-fertilization and salt buildup.
Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, humus-rich, and well-draining substrate – a peat mixture with perlite is ideal. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot, always only one size larger.
