Peperomia caperata Lilian is a compact houseplant with textured, dark green leaves and delicate light veins. It is easy to care for and ideal for both beginners and experienced growers – it brings natural texture to an interior without being demanding.
Watering Water sparingly – Peperomia stores water in its leaves. Allow the substrate to dry out well between waterings (approx. 3–4 cm). Caution: Overwatering is this plant's biggest enemy – water must not stand in the saucer under the pot.
Light Prefers a bright to semi-shady location without direct sunlight.
Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
It tolerates moderately lit rooms – it is also suitable for office spaces.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 18–25 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 12 °C and drafts.
Humidity: Tolerates normal room humidity. Do not mist directly onto the leaves – droplets can cause stains.
Fertilizing During the growing season (spring–autumn), fertilize once a month with diluted liquid fertilizer for houseplants at half strength. Omit fertilization entirely in winter.
Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, well-draining substrate – an ideal mix for houseplants with perlite. Repot in spring, always into a pot that is only one size larger.
Note Peperomia caperata is non-toxic to pets and children – it is a safe choice for households with animals.
