Phlebodium aureum Davana is a charming indoor fern with soft, blue-green lobed leaves. It is ideal for interiors with less natural light and is among the best air purifiers. Its delicate, tropical appearance will brighten up any corner of a room.
Watering Ferns require consistently moist substrate – water when the top layer (approx. 1–2 cm) is dry. They do not tolerate complete drying out or overwatering. Caution: Use room temperature, standing water – chlorine and fluoride from tap water can cause brown leaf tips.
Light Tolerates a wide range of light conditions – from medium indirect light to bright indirect light.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
It is also ideal for rooms with less natural light.
Temperature and Air
Ideal temperature: 16–24 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C or drafts.
Humidity: Requires high air humidity (above 50%). Regularly mist the leaves or place on a tray with moist pebbles. During the heating season, we recommend a humidifier.
Fertilization During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Completely avoid fertilizing in winter. Ferns are sensitive to over-fertilization and salt buildup.
Substrate and Repotting Requires a light, humus-rich, and well-draining substrate – a peat mixture with perlite is ideal. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot, always only one size larger.
Warning Phlebodium aureum is non-toxic to pets and children – it is one of the safe houseplants for homes with animals.
