Phlebodium blue star care
Phlebodium blue star is a charming indoor fern with characteristic blue-green, lobed leaves covered with a delicate waxy coating. It is ideal for interiors with less natural light and is one of the best air purifiers. Its unique blue leaf color will make an impression in any interior.
💧 Watering Ferns require evenly moist substrate – water when the top layer (approx. 1–2 cm) is dry. They do not tolerate complete drying out or overwatering. Note: Use standing water at room temperature – chlorine and fluoride from tap water can cause brown leaf tips.
☀️ Light Tolerates a wide range of light conditions – from medium indirect to bright indirect light.
Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
It is also ideal for rooms with less natural light.
🌡️ Temperature and air
Ideal temperature: 16–24 °C.
Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C and drafts.
Humidity: Requires high air humidity (above 50%). Regularly mist the leaves or place on a tray with moist pebbles. During the heating season, we recommend a humidifier.
🌿 Fertilization During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize once a month with liquid fertilizer for houseplants at half concentration. Completely omit fertilization in winter. Ferns are sensitive to over-fertilization and salt accumulation.
🧽 Substrate and repotting Requires light, humus-rich and well-drained substrate – a peat mixture with perlite is ideal. Repot in spring when the roots fill the pot, always only one size larger.
⚠️ Warning Phlebodium blue star is non-toxic to pets and children – it is one of the safe houseplants for homes with animals.
