Caring for Zamioculcas zamiifolia Zenzi

Zamioculcas zamiifolia Zenzi is a compact, dense-crowned variety of the popular ZZ plant. Unlike the common Zamioculcas, Zenzi has short, densely arranged leaves that give it a decorative, rounded shape. It is ideal for smaller spaces and is one of the most resilient houseplants.

💧 Watering Water very sparingly – only when the substrate is completely dry (approx. 4–5 cm). Zamioculcas stores water in its tubers and leaves. Warning: Overwatering is the biggest enemy of this plant – water must not stand in the saucer under the pot.

☀️ Light Tolerates a wide range of light conditions – from deep shade to bright indirect light.

• Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.

• It is one of the few plants suitable even for darker corners of a room.

🌡️ Temperature and Air

• Ideal temperature: 18–25 °C.

• Cold: Does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C or drafts.

• Humidity: Tolerates normal room humidity without requiring misting.

🌿 Fertilization During the growing season (spring–autumn), fertilize once every 1–2 months with liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Completely omit fertilization in winter.

🧽 Substrate and Repotting Requires well-draining, sandy substrate – an ideal mix is for succulents or houseplants with added perlite. Repot in spring, only when the pot is cracking or roots are growing out.
